Bear Hunt and Foundry Battle Guide: Ratios, Rewards, and the Trap Bonus
2026-10-238 min readBy PAWNS Team

If events are income, Bear Hunt is the salary and Foundry Battle is the bonus. This guide covers both — because they alternate through your calendar, they feed the same stockpiles, and most alliances underperform both for the same reason: nobody wrote down the setup.
01Bear Hunt (Alliance Trap) — the essentials
- Cadence: roughly every 47–48 hours. An R4/R5 activates the Bear Trap (alliance must be Furnace 5+); many alliances now run two traps to cover time zones.
- Format: 30 minutes of rallies against the Raging Bear. Damage dealt = personal and alliance rewards, including Essence Stones for hero gear.
- No troop losses. Bear Hunt is pure damage racing — send everything, every time. It is the safest high-value event in the game.
02The +25% everyone forgets: Explosive Arrowheads
Before the hunt, members donate Explosive Arrowheads to enhance the trap, up to +25% Troop Attack for the whole hunt. The bonus resets every hunt — an alliance that donates once and coasts is donating for one hunt only. The Explosive Arrowhead trap bonus is free damage your alliance is either claiming or leaving on the table every 48 hours. R4/R5 routine: donation call 1 hour before activation, every hunt, no exceptions.
03Troop ratios and heroes that multiply damage
| Context | Infantry | Lancer | Marksman | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bear Hunt | 10% | 80% | 10% | Lancers are the Bear Hunt damage type — the 10/80/10 split is the standard for a reason. |
| General PvP march | 50% | 30% | 20% | The standard PvP ratio: Infantry tanks in front, Marksmen deal damage behind. |
| Crazy Joe defence | 90% | 10% | 0% | Survivability event — Infantry wall. |
- Rally leaders bring the damage heroes (Jeronimo is the classic Bear Hunt lead; Gordon’s damage-over-time shines in Gen 7+ states).
- Rally joiners bring captain skills, not stats: when you join, only your first hero’s top-right Expedition skill applies — Jessie or Jasser for damage. The right rally leader hero plus the right captain for every joiner is worth more than a tier of troops.
- And the counter triangle, printed correctly: Infantry counters Lancers → Lancers counter Marksmen → Marksmen counter Infantry. Several top-ranking guides have this backwards; battle reports prove the version here.
04Foundry Battle — the other half of the fortnight
Foundry Battle alternates with Frostfire Mine every two weeks. The essentials:
- Format: 60-minute alliance battlefield, Furnace 16+ to enter.
- Roster: 30 fighters + 10 substitutes per alliance; substitutes rotate in after the opening minutes. Register your 40 before matchmaking — an unregistered bench is a forfeited advantage.
- Objective: hold the Imperial Foundry and its subsidiary buildings (boilers, arsenals) for points. Building control over time beats chasing kills.
- Reward currency: exclusive Arsenal Tokens, spendable only from Foundry — skipping Foundry means skipping an entire shop.
- Lockout: no outside marches during the battle. Finish gathering and intel before the window opens.
05The two-week rhythm, on one calendar
| Cadence | Event | Your job |
|---|---|---|
| Every ~48h | Bear Hunt | Donate arrowheads → rally with 10/80/10 → join with damage captains |
| Weekly | Alliance Championship · Fortress battles | Set lane formations (Championship) · show up Friday (Fortress) |
| Every 2 weeks | Foundry Battle ↔ Frostfire Mine (alternating) | Register 30+10 for Foundry; Frostfire is solo — alliance mates are opponents there |
| Every 4 weeks | SvS ↔ King of Icefield (alternating) | Hoard between cycles; spend only on scoring days (the week-one rule, at alliance scale) |
FAQ
Do troops die in Bear Hunt?
▾
No. Bear Hunt damage is rallies against the Raging Bear with no troop losses — unlike SvS, where Infirmary overflow means real deaths.
What are the Bear Trap rewards?
▾
Personal and alliance rewards scaled by damage, including Essence Stones for hero gear enhancement — a core reason Bear Hunt attendance is non-negotiable.
How many players can an alliance field in Foundry Battle?
▾
30 fighters plus 10 substitutes. Substitutes enter after the opening minutes, so register all 40.
